We collaborated with blogger Blake Von D to take us on a tour of Chicago. Chicago is one of the largest cities in the United States popular for its iconic and bold architecture. The city is filled with glorious skyscrapers, amazing museums, shopping and a variety of top rated restaurants. If you are familiar with Chef’s Table on Netflix then you already know to make a reservation at Alinea. We sat down with Blake to give us some travel tips when visiting the windy city.

Art- Institute- The beautiful spiral staircase at the Art Institute of Chicago is worth the visit all on its own. But it’s also the perfect place to take a quiet stroll while enjoying some of the greatest art collections in the world. The St. Johns Knits boutique is also close to the AIC, so if you’re looking to view one beautiful collection of art after another, make sure to swing by!

Chicago has the most beautiful skylines in all of the country. Seriously, you must see it to believe it! My favorite place in the city to take in the views is from Cindy’s located on the rooftop of Chicago Athletic Club. You won’t find a better place to appreciate Chicago’s gorgeous architecture.

TIP #1
In Chicago, we like to say that we can go through all 4 seasons in one day.. and it’s true. You must be prepared for anything. Rain, snow or sun. You might get it all. Pack versatile pieces that you can layer on and off to suit the ever-changing weather.

Indulging in extraordinary cuisine is one thing that is on our mind while we are visiting Chicago. The city is filled with exceptional Michelin Star restaurants, iconic hot spots, and flavorful street cafes.

Chicago is known for its deep-dish pizza and hotdogs, but if you’re like me and looking for the best burger Chicago offers, run—don’t walk—to Au Cheval. Chances are you’re going to run into a bit of a wait, but I promise it’s worth it.

TIP #2
Traveling to and from Chicago is quite painless, but traffic can be a bit of a headache. To avoid traffic, try taking the train! Getting into the city (downtown) is pretty easy from either airport and you’ll save both time and money.

Au Cheval sounds like a place we want to experience. We asked for some recommendations from Blake for local hot spots and she is making us want to hop on a plane to Chicago right away! She said:

Looking for a chic place to work or grab a cup of coffee? Try Soho House Chicago. The welcoming decor makes it the most comfortable coffee shop in the city, and the “No Cell Phones” policy is a welcome break from staring at your iPhone screen.

This is something that we can all agree on! A casual break from your phone in a chic location in Chicago is a place we want to be. Downtown Chicago is filled with an enormous amount of shopping. We asked Blake to tell us some of her favorite places to shop while in the windy city.

Oak St. is one of my favorite places to shop. I love that so many of my favorite stores and brands— especially St. John, are in one central location and I can stop in as many of them as I’d like!

If Chicago isn’t on your wish list of places to travel it should be now!
